Equipping a luxury home with an elevator of this kind improves quality of life, eliminates

Comfortable and Innovative

Indoor Elevators for Modern Luxury Homes

Installing a home lift may seem like an expensive choice suited only to certain types of homes.
In reality, an indoor elevator can be essential for making everyday life easier for elderly people,
people with disabilities or anyone who has difficulty using stairs.

Stylish indoor elevator systems are ideal for villas, multi-storey homes and small
residential buildings: they allow users to move freely between floors and transport
heavy loads effortlessly.

Depending on the available space and customer requirements, they can be built with a
metal structure, a masonry shaft or a panoramic supporting structure.

Indoor elevators can have a wide range of characteristics. Elevator systems and home
lifts can feature highly distinctive finishes and design, making them particularly suitable
for prestigious environments, five-star hotels, representative buildings and settings of
significant historical and artistic value.

Luxury elevators convey an image of comfort and refined taste, giving spaces a distinctive identity.
An indoor elevator is an essential element in enhancing a building and is particularly valued in
luxury hotels for its finishes and design, with special attention to image, style and comfort.
Its appearance becomes an integral part of the interior, making targeted customisation essential.

Main Benefits

What Are the Benefits?

In addition to being an innovative and smart solution for properties in cadastral categories A/1 –
prestigious homes, A/8 – villas and A/9 – castles and prestigious buildings, indoor
elevators are easy to install, meaning the work may take only a few days.

Considering the dimensions of the lifting system — an 80 × 80 cm cabin with a depth of 95 cm —
one of the main advantages is its adaptability to limited spaces. Indoor elevators can also
be installed within a stairwell.

In addition to being customisable, indoor elevators for modern luxury homes can also
deliver savings: their power consumption is comparable to that of a common household
appliance, operating at 220–230 V, while applicable tax deductions should also be
taken into account.

All these benefits make the elevator a medium- to long-term investment that can save
both money and physical effort.

Available Technologies

Models Available for Installation

Which indoor elevator models can be installed in modern luxury homes? Among today’s
modern, latest-generation solutions, three main types are particularly suitable for
prestigious settings.

Hydraulic Elevator

An oil-powered elevator, also known as a hydraulic or piston elevator, requires a power
unit operated by oil pressure. Compared with an electric elevator, the hydraulic model is
quieter, does not require a counterweight, makes full use of the shaft dimensions, provides
smoother starts and can be installed almost anywhere. Although installation costs are
lower than for other models, a hydraulic elevator requires more electrical energy
during operation.

Traction Elevator

The traction elevator is the standard lifting system, featuring a cabin and counterweight
and operating through a traction sheave.

Although they can reach high speeds, traction elevators offer low energy consumption
and can accommodate high load capacities. They are suitable for multi-storey villas
and luxury properties.

Better distribution of the cabin weight ensures excellent ride comfort and reduces
the stresses placed on the shaft.

Because they do not use polluting oils, traction elevators are environmentally friendly systems.

MRL Machine Room Less Elevators

Latest-generation MRL elevators are characterised by the absence of a machine room.
Thanks to optimal management of the electrical power required for operation,
this type of elevator delivers significant energy savings.

Machine Room Less elevators feature:

  • a mechanical guide-locking system that ensures full control and stability of the cabin position,
  • a frame and counterweight that keep the motor in an extremely stable position,
  • a camera-based monitoring kit that allows the direction of cabin movement to be checked.

Mobility and Inclusion

Accessibility

The design and installation of a K-Planet indoor lifting system make movement
between floors smarter and safer while improving overall accessibility.

Indoor residential elevators are an excellent solution for removing architectural
barriers and can also be used by wheelchair users.

An indoor residential elevator is an excellent solution for improving quality of life and
everyday mobility for elderly people and those with reduced mobility.

Italy is well known for its ancient heritage and its historic private and public architecture:
more than 40% of buildings were constructed before 1989, the year Law No. 13 of 9
January 1989 came into force, introducing requirements aimed at removing architectural
barriers, including provisions concerning elevators in multi-storey buildings.

Adaptability

K-Planet indoor elevators are adaptable: the built environment can be modified over time at
limited cost. The main objective is to make the indoor home lift fully accessible to all
categories of people with reduced or impaired motor or sensory abilities.

Incentives

Tax Deductions

The regulations in force provide, until 31 December 2019, the possibility of installing,
renovating or replacing an elevator system. The tax deduction rate was increased from
36% to 50%, and the maximum amount of work eligible for the incentive was raised
to €96,000 per property unit, compared with the previous limit of €48,000.

Presidential Decree No. 917 of 22 December 1986, known as TUIR, lists in Article
16-bis the types of work eligible for the tax deduction:

  • routine maintenance, namely building work involving the repair, renovation and replacement
    of building finishes;
  • extraordinary maintenance, including renovation or replacement of building components,
    including structural elements;
  • restoration and conservative rehabilitation, meaning building work intended to preserve functionality through a coordinated set of interventions.

To qualify for the tax deduction, payments must be made by bank
or postal transfer showing:

  • tax code of the person claiming the deduction;
  • tax code or VAT number of the payment recipient;
  • payment reason/reference.

If these details are missing from the transfer, the tax deduction cannot be claimed.

For work carried out on shared condominium areas, in addition to the condominium’s
tax code, the tax code of the administrator or another condominium member making
the payment must also be provided. For further information, please refer to the dedicated guide.
